The Sign Writing and Painting course offers specialized training in painting, sign writing, designing, artistic drawing, and screen printing. This program equips trainees with the skills necessary to create visually striking and professional signs, artwork, and printed materials. With a focus on both creative and practical aspects, this course is ideal for those looking to enter the world of graphic design, advertising, and visual arts.
Course Levels
1. Sign Writing and Painting III (1 Year)
Overview: This one-year course provides students with comprehensive training in painting, sign writing, artistic drawing, and screen printing. By the end of the year, students are skilled in creating professional signage and artworks for various purposes, from advertising to decorative designs. The course is examined by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), and the exams are conducted in the November/December series.
Core Skills:
Sign Writing: Creating attractive, readable, and effective signs for businesses, events, and advertisements.
Painting Techniques: Mastering various painting methods for both indoor and outdoor surfaces.
Artistic Drawing: Developing skills in drawing and designing logos, graphics, and custom illustrations.
Screen Printing: Learning the techniques of screen printing for producing printed materials like t-shirts, posters, and business signage.
Designing: Understanding design principles and how to apply them to create compelling visuals.
Qualifications: Open to individuals with KCSE, KCPE, or those who are school dropouts with basic literacy skills.
2. Sign Writing and Painting II and I (6 Months Each)
Overview: For students who wish to further enhance their skills, Grade II and Grade I courses are available. These advanced courses focus on refining the skills learned in Grade III and offer more in-depth training in design and execution. The courses take six months each and can be pursued on a full-time or part-time basis, with part-time classes held in the evenings starting at 4:00 PM. The exams are conducted by NITA in the July/August exam series.

Advanced Sign Writing: Perfecting the craft of sign creation, including the use of advanced techniques and materials.
Graphic Design: Further developing skills in creating visual designs for commercial, decorative, and functional purposes.
Professional Painting: Refining the ability to execute intricate and high-quality painting projects.
Printing Techniques: Gaining expertise in more complex printing methods, such as offset and digital printing.
Qualifications: A Grade III certificate with a pass is required to join Grade II, and a Grade II certificate is required to join Grade I.
